How can adding a simple peephole or camera at the door improve safety?

Opening the door without knowing who’s outside is always a bit of a gamble. A peephole or basic door camera lets you see first and decide calmly whether to open, ignore, or speak through the door.

A peephole is the simplest option: cheap, easy to install on most doors, and needs no power. You just glance through before unlocking. A small camera – even an entry-level one – can go a step further by letting you check visitors from your phone or another room, and sometimes even record who came when.

This extra layer means you don’t feel pressured to open for everyone who rings. It’s especially useful for children, older people, or times when you’re home alone.

You’re not being rude; you’re being sensible. Knowing who’s there before you respond is a basic, practical safety habit.
