Why should you be careful about sharing detailed house photos publicly online?

Posting interior photos can be fun, but they sometimes reveal more than you intend. Wide shots can show window types, door locks, where valuables are kept, alarm positions, and even how to move through the home from room to room.

If those photos are public, anyone can study them, zoom in, and mentally “walk” through your home before ever visiting in person. Combined with other information – like your location or your habits – it can become a security risk.

You don’t have to stop sharing completely, but it’s wise to edit what you post: avoid clear shots of security devices, don’t show exact views out of windows that reveal addresses, and think twice before posting real-time tours.

Your home layout doesn’t need to be a public map.
