Why should you be cautious if you see water stains that appear only after certain winds or storms?

Some leaks are straightforward – they show up every time it rains. But others are more sneaky. If you notice stains or damp patches appearing only after rain with strong wind from a particular direction, it often means water is being pushed in through gaps that don’t normally get tested.

This could be around roof edges, flashing, vents, or even behind cladding and window frames. Ordinary gentle rain might not penetrate, so the problem stays hidden most of the time. But during heavy, angled rainfall, water finds its way through.

Because it’s not constant, it’s easy to dismiss. But repeated occasional leaks can still cause serious long-term damage to structure and finishes. It’s worth taking these “rare” signs seriously and tracing them, rather than waiting for them to become frequent.

Weather is basically stress-testing your building. When it fails only on bad days, that’s still failure.
