How can watching water pressure changes tell you something about your plumbing system?

Most of us get used to the “normal” feel of our taps and showers: how strong the stream is, how quickly buckets fill, how the shower spray feels. Any noticeable change – suddenly weak flow, strange surges, or very strong pressure where it wasn’t before – is a message from your plumbing.

Low pressure might signal a partially blocked pipe, a failing pump, clogged aerators, or supply issues in the building or area. Extremely high pressure can be just as worrying, putting extra stress on joints, hoses and appliances.

By noticing and not ignoring these changes, you can investigate before something fails entirely. Sometimes it’s a simple fix like cleaning a shower head; other times it’s an early warning of a bigger issue that’s still cheaper to solve now than later.
